Tremblay points out that teenagers involved with the youth justice system develop friendships and peer relationships with others that have had brushes with the law.
“If you put a bunch of delinquents together, they won’t help each other; they will teach other,” he said. “They will try to one-up each other.”
The 20-year joint research project with the University of Genoa in Italy sought out boys from kindergarten who were at risk for delinquent behaviour, and who were enrolled at schools in the poorest neighbourhoods in Montreal. Specifically, the researchers looked for impulsive boys with inadequate supervision and poor families.
Some 779 participants were followed from the time they were very six years old until they were in their mid-20s. Nearly 18 per cent of the participants ended up with adult criminal records for infractions that included homicide, arson, and prostitution. All of those with adult records had spent time in the juvenile system.

Canadian Dan Levy was equally predictable with his tale of going to Amsterdam and, yes, drugs were mentioned once or twice. His encounter with Justin Timberlake provided more interesting fodder, but its a tale thats more funny peculiar than funny ha-ha.
Nick Thune, who wed previously seen on the Ampd musical comedy showcase ditched the longer-form song in favour of his one-liners, accompanied by his guitar strumming. And what fine gags they are, for the most part: genuinely imaginative wordplay producing some nicely surprising one-liners. For the first time, the gig was looking up.
But then came Patrick Kielty, in his Reservior Dogs-style suit, launching into some sloppy material about Montreal: how there are a lot of strip clubs and how its half-French, half-American. But just about every comic who comes here ploughs similar ground, so Kieltys pedestrian take fell on stony ground among city residents, who might just have noticed such things themselves.

She could have been in the hottest movie of the summer.
Instead, Lindsay Lohan, 23, declined the role of stripper Jade in The Hangover after declaring the screenplay “had no potential,” Us Weekly reports in its its latest issue (on newsstands now).
See how Lindsay Lohan’s body has changed over the years
A source tells Us that director Todd Phillips approached Lohan to star in the hit flick — which has raked in $205 million so far — after their mutual agent campaigned on the actress’ behalf.

“The agent tried hard to get Phillips to consider her,” says the source, “and when he finally agreed, Lindsay said she didn’t like the script!”

Someone who has already graced both those spaces is Gina Yashere. I hadn’t realised that ‘our Gina’ now lives in LA and has done for the past couple of years, presumably in the wake of her appearance in the Last Comic Standing, the X-Factor style talent show that mixed US and UK comics of varying levels of experience. Life in California appears to have left her leaner (colonic irrigation it turns out) and meaner if the evidence of her stewardship of the ‘Nasty Girls’ gig at the atmospheric Club Soda was anything to go by. ‘Nasty Girls’ is one of the themed nights at Just for Laughs along with The Ethnic Heroes of Comedy and an example of how TV scouts can be conveniently steered to fill any quotas they may happen to be looking to fill. The title always puts me in mind of the strip club scene in Beverley Hills Cop where the song ‘Nasty Girl’ by Vanity plays, and I guess that’s the risqu vibe that it aspires to.

The 23-year-old Rodrigues, a former exotic dancer who hails from Brazil and met Gatti, 37 when he died, at a strip club in northern New Jersey, was charged last Sunday in his killing.
Montreal’s Gatti was found dead last Saturday in Apartment 6305 at the Dorisol condominium hotel along the yellow-sand beaches of Brazil’s Porto de Galinhas. Police say he had been strangled with a purse strap while passed out in a drunken slumber.

Skowronski said Gatti dated numerous strippers, so he thought little of it when Gatti called him all excited about meeting Rodrigues at The Squeeze Lounge in Weehawken, N.J. He thought Rodrigues, like the others, wouldn’t last.

When Rodrigues first arrived, she was embraced by the Gatti family and friends. For a long time Gatti hid that his wife had been a stripper, and friends say he defended her even as her relations with them soured.

The Nasty Show begins with a video tribute â actually more of a skewering â to Slayton from Jay Leno, Lewis Black, Bill Maher, Ray Romano, Don Rickles, the Smothers Brothers and even Alice Cooper. Black, for instance, wasnât certain whether the chicken wings or Slayton was the bigger draw at Hooters.
Slayton, who now has a gig and his own room at the Tropicana in Vegas, conceded that the casino work has had its benefits: âœI spend six days a week in Vegas, while my wife spends six days a week in L.A. Weâve been married 21 years â 100 with the windchill factor. Our marriage has never been better, although she did say that if she ever found out that I was fooling around with the strippers at Hooters, she would kill herself. As if the temptation wasnât strong enough, then she had to go dangle that carrot under my nose.â

It’s no surprise, then, that it was inspired by a real-life ill-fated jaunt to Montreal from Vermont. Although the trip was not made personally by any members of the Broken Lizard crew, the story has been retold enough times through the five members of the sketch comedy-turned-filmmaking troupeJay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Paul Soter, Steve Lemme and Erik Stolhanskethat perhaps the finer details of the event in question have become cloudy. Heffernan, who played the dopey turncoat Rod Farva in Super Troopers and the ironically murdered beer chugger Landfill in Beerfest, recalls a group including Chandrasekhar and a few others getting pulled over on a beer run to our fair country. I played rugby for Colgate University, Heffernan adds. And we did make the trip up to Montreal for some tournament, and there were a lot of strip clubs involved. Paul Soter, the redhead known for playing the more sane characters, recalls the movie intro playing largely true to the real story, with a group of friends carrying considerable amounts of weed and mushrooms driving to a friends cabin for a party

The records didn’t indicate who filed the restraining order, but Gatti’s mother confirmed that it was Rodrigues who had taken one out against him. She offered no other details.
Gatti’s stepfather, Geraldo DiFrancesco, said the pair fought, but that he “was surprised” it went as far as Gatti’s death. “You can never expect something like that to happen.”
Chuck Zito, an actor and friend of Gatti who met the boxer 13 years ago and accompanied him to the ring for several of his most notable fights, said he knew the couple was having problems.
“Things were real rocky. They were rocky between them from the beginning,” Zito said. “He said they were probably going to get a divorce.”
Zito said Gatti met his wife at the strip club Scores in New York and that Gatti’s friends tried to talk him out of marrying her.

Brothel backs Olympic bid
WELLINGTON: A New Zealand taekwondo athlete has opened a brothel to help fund his bid to compete at the 2012 London Olympics, local media reported Sunday. Logan Campbell, 23, told the Sunday Star-Times newspaper he hoped his Auckland gentlemans club, which provided escort services, would help him raise about $200,000 toward his London Games campaign. Campbell, who finished in the top 16 in the featherweight division at last years Beijing Olympics, said he spent around $90,000 competing in international events leading up to the games. Most of the money had been provided by his parents, he said. His father, Max, an auctioneer, had worked two jobs to support his sons Olympic quest. Campbell told the newspaper his desire to avoid being a burden on his parents led him to open the brothel with business partner Hugo Phillips, 20. He said he had introduced several of his female employees to his mother who realized they were just normal people supporting kids and stuff. Taekwondo New Zealand fu …
