Every user enrolled in the trial had to be at least 25 years old and a heroin user for at least five years. They also had to have failed to kick the habit in treatment programs at least twice before, including once in a methadone-treatment program. In short, these were people who had struggled with addiction for a long time. It remains extremely controversial, but in parts of Europe and Canada policy-makers have gently proposed harm reduction. The idea is that, even if people can’t get clean, they could still get help to live healthier and more productive lives, avoiding some of the worst health risks of heroin – like HIV and hepatitis C, which are both spread through dirty needles – and eliminating a major reason for crimes like theft and prostitution, used to fund drug habits.

Laval police seek victims of alleged pimp

Laval police are asking young victims to come forward and describe their accounts of encountering a man who allegedly tried to solicit them into prostitution.
Fadi Mikho Malo, 40, was arrested July 3, after he allegedly approached a 15-year-old girl, asked her if she would be interested in getting paid for giving erotic massages, and handed her a business card.
The business card listed two local phone numbers, along with phone numbers in Lebanon, Syria and Tunisia.
Malo appeared in court July 6 to face charges of pimping and invitation to sexual touching.

Cody Bonnell, 19, from Unionville, Ont., was another familiar face. Last season he almost made Top 20, but the judges wanted him to have a bit more maturity. “They’re going to see a different me,” he said assuredly before starting his fluid hip-hop number.
“Welcome back,” Jean Marc said, loving Bonnell’s swagger. The judges were excited about how far he’d come. “There’s something about you,” Mia added and Bonnell was off to the Finals.
Moving away from hip-hop, Vancouver’s Santé Fortunato, 20, stepped on stage in a sequined top and heels, performing a contortionist salsa-inspired solo.
“I can only imagine what you’d do on a pole,” Mia said, and though she said she appreciated Fortunato’s flexibility, she wasn’t a fan of stripper dancing. Even still, the judges wanted to see what she’d do with Blake’s choreography.

Laval police bust suspected pimp

Laval police are asking any young girls to come forward if they’ve been approached by a man in recent months asking them to work for him in an erotic massage network.
It’s alleged 40-year-old Fadi Mikho-Malo approached a 15-year-old girl at a depanneur  earlier this summer, handed her his business card and insisted she work for the erotic massage business.  When she told him her age, he said he knew and continued his attempts to recruit her. 
The frightened teen contacted police and cops moved in to make an arrest July 6th.
Malo has since been charged with pimping and invitation to sexual touching. 
Investigators in Laval believe Malo approached other teen girls, handing over his business card.  Police would like to speak to any teens who have the card but may be too scared to contact them.

Laval police are looking for possible victims of a man who was trying to recruit young girls into a prostitution ring.
The 40-year-old man was arrested in early July after he attempted to recruit a 15-year-old girl, leaving her with his business card. 
Police would like any other girls who were given the man’s business card to come forward.
