It’s highly doubtful Johnny Zoumbulakis will ever get a spot on a Walk of Fame, particularly in the Quartier des Spectacles (with which he has had issues). But Zoumbulakis is a Montreal original and a warrior in his battle to keep a city mainstay from pulling up stakes. He is the boss of the holdout Cafe Cleopatre on the Main and appears to be winning, for now, the battle against the expropriation of his strip-saloon in what was once the city’s fabled red-light district and in what is destined to become part of the Quartier des Spectacles. La Societe de developpement Angus, the group behind the Quartier des Spectacles, is contemplating tossing in the towel in its bid to rid the Cleo from the street. This is being viewed as a victory for strippers of a certain age and cultural historians of all ages, including the ever-divine and uber-vamp Dead Doll Dancers and actor/provocateur Donovan King.

Simon asked Boyer to consider that Dupuy was moving that amount of dope just weeks after leaving a detention centre in September 2008.
In May 2008, Dupuy was sentenced, in a Laval court, to possession of a loaded prohibited weapon, and assault. Dupuy served the entire sentence behind bars and was freed on Sept. 7, 2008. But weeks prior to that, Montreal police had a source who told them Dupuy planned to take control of drug trafficking in Montreal North and Riviere des Prairies when he got out.
Three days after his release, someone tried to kill Dupuy while he and a friend were at a strip bar on St. Laurent Blvd. Shots were fired in Dupuy’s direction but he escaped with minor injuries after jumping on the hood of a taxi, which drove a short distance before he fell off.
